Time To Sparkle

This is the time of year when we begin to see festive decorations for Christmas and in the Northern Hemisphere the sparkling lights and glittering decorations cheer up the dark, cold days of winter. There is something magical about the twinkle and shine and it can lift spirits and make us smile.

In the Christmas story we read about the bright star that shone in the night sky which led shepherds and the three wise men to the stable where baby Jesus was born. One of the first songs we learn to sing or say is, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!

We also may have snow this time of year and in the cold frosty air it can twinkle and sparkle in the moonlight, streetlights or maybe car lights. Here is a lovely poem I came across…

Coral Rumble
 
The town leapt a little, tonight,
As the Christmas lights came on.
Everyday streets became more important
And even the darkest pathways glistened.
Stars and snowflakes
Angels and reindeer
Flashed and flickered a holy-white whisper,
Making our town,
Our ordinary, brick and tarmac town,
Sparkle like a frosted castle
In a far-off, frozen land.

Let Your Sparkle Shine

When we are happy and enjoying life people can tell by the sparkle in your eyes, the way you move and the way you respond to others. But of course we all lose our sparkle at times because we are sick, worried or sad.

Here are some idea to help you sparkle again…

• Help other people and you will feel better in yourself
• Use your talents to take part in something, like singing , dancing, acting, sport, crafts for example
• Make something with your hands
• Listen to stories, theatre, music or whatever interests you
• Play games with others
• Have some fun
