An Irish Summer 4: For Writers

Ireland: The Perfect Place To Write

Not only has Ireland got a rich literary heritage with the names of W.B. Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, and Seamus Heaney being just a few of them, but it has wonderful inspiring scenery too.

From the buzz of Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway in the south, and Belfast and Derry/Londonderry in the north, to the windswept Atlantic in the west to the more sheltered Irish Sea in the east, and the variety of magnificent mountains, pleasant pasturelands, flat bogland and laidback small towns throughout the island there is enough material to get the creative juices flowing.

You can sense the history in the land, with its crumbling castles, abandoned stone cottages, the oral stories and poems handed down in songs and tales sang or told in a captivating way. There are new stories just waiting to be told.
