My hope for 2022 is that people all over the world experience good health, have opportunities to work, live a decent life, have peace in their lives and countries, and have a chance of gaining an education. This may not be a realistic wish but with hope, anything is possible if we are willing to try.

In 2020, the Save the Children charity asked children all over the world to write poems telling of their experience of lockdown during Covid-19 and their hopes for the future. here is a video of some of the poems…

Hope Is The Thing With Feathers by Emily Dickenson

“Hope is the thing with feathers” (written around 1861) is a poem by the American poet Emily Dickinson. In this poem, Hope is seen as a little bird that sings through storms and keeps singing no matter what.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
